The main objective of the tool is the storage and centralization of backups to facilitate their management. It allows the client to have full management over server backups and backups of network element configurations so they can have agility in restoring them with confidence. Its interface is user-friendly for use in web browsers, allowing users of backup managers a vision for full control.About the macro architecture:
It has its own database, but it can be integrated with other login mechanisms such as LDAP and SSO, in order to not authenticate locally.
Graphical dashboard with the main metrics to be defined at project time, such as: total number of equipment, servers, backups made, etc.
Customizable configurations such as the frequency of backups and the target settings of SNMP trap, email server, SMS server, REST notification destination, and audit log purge.
All important actions of the solution and its users are recorded in the database, allowing an audit of system and users actions. This data is read-only, regardless of user profile.
Allows you to create, change, and delete the profiles that users are linked to. With integration with other authentication systems, the profile management will operate within the tool as an isolated feature, and can be accessed only by specific users of the client, who will manage them.
Network Elements File Analyzer
Scans each file received or collected before storing it in the backup. The analyzes are carried out taking into account if there is a template defined for it. All differences will be notified, respecting the settings and configurations in the tool. After the analysis, the system will generate the hash of the file and store it. It will also be sent to the storage area for backups and will be cataloged with a backup of your element. If an element is not identified, users will be notified that a non-linked backup exists for further review.
Each user has their personal notifications box, which will be notifications sent by the Target Backup Solution tool itself to the user. Notifications can also be sent to other external entities by SNMP, SMS, REST or email trap, and they will be classified as "information", "alert" and "error". The tool stores the dates / times of the notifications within the notification, guaranteeing the non-repudiation of the notification. For the correct functioning of this reality, all notifications by external means will not send the contents of the notification, but only an alert that there is a new notification with its respective classification, in this way, the user will have to log in the system to make the verification of the same .
Network Elements Management
It maintains a basic register of the elements (hostname, site, IP, manufacturer, model, etc.) to be backed up. It has a feature of mass registering of elements, in order to facilitate the loading of data. In this way the system will have control of the maintenance cycle of the backup of all elements of the mobile network. The tool supports that the elements have their backups performed in an active or passive way and this will be defined element by element in this module. The elements marked for Active Backup will need to have their IPs registered and have connectivity from the system servers, as well as the Passive Backup, will have a field, which can be its name, linked to the file name that the system will receive, so that can be identified as a backup file of those elements. There is also a mechanism that lists incoming files that are not bound to any element, so that a user can link it to an element or register it.
Server Backup Template
Each server to be backed up must use a predefined backup template. The template can inform the partitions to be backed up, the frequency of the backup and their types (incremental, total, etc).
Network Elements Backup Template
Each network element to be backed up will use a predefined backup template that will act as a validation mask for the data.
It has two forms of work. One with a client installed on the server to be backed up and another accessing the server or network element via FTP / TFTP / SCP to download active backups (items marked Active Backup).
It provides an FTP server to receive data to be backed up. This module will control the FTP users that will be made available so that the sources can send their backups, besides being able to be deployed also outside the main servers. In this way, the files will be sent to the main servers for processing.
It aims to maintain a basic database of servers (hostname, site, IP, manufacturer, model, etc.) to be backed up, allowing users to include and / or authorize them. It has a feature of mass registering of elements, in order to facilitate the loading of data. It is necessary to define the backup template for the server, also allowing to add more folders for backups that are not in the template.
Managing File Types
The user can define the types of files that will be backed up and some configurations about them like: - Whether they are binary or not; - In case of not being binary, a possible template to validate the data in it; - Number of failures before sending error notification; - Files with differences between the last received file and the penultimate file already stored in the backup can generate notifications.
Filters specific events to send alarms to other systems, such as SNMP trap management software.
The Target Backup Solution tool allows you to customize reports. In your deployment you should check which reports should be made available to each customer.
